Registration is now open for the Labour Law News Conference to be held at Focus Rooms in Johannesburg on 26 June 2025.

The keynote address will be presented by Judge Mahomed Navsa (retired Judge of the Supreme Court of Appeal and former Acting Judge of the Constitutional Court). Judge Navsa authored the well-known Sidumo judgment regarding the test to be applied in review applications. His keynote address will reflect on the legacy of the Sidumo judgment.

The programme will also feature:

  • A deep dive into the Law Reform Process and proposed legislative amendments, led by Shamima Gaibie (Director: Cheadle, Thompson & Haysom Inc).
  • Insightful discussions on:
    • The intersection of harassment claims under the Employment Equity Act and OHSA, led by Fiona Leppan (Director: Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Inc).
    • The implications of the Oak Valley Judgment for strike regulation, led by Adv Joshua Davis.
    • The Draft Code of Good Practice on Dismissal, explored in a dynamic panel discussion, featuring 4 Webber Wentzel Partners (Lizle Louw, Mehnaaz Bux, Dumisani Ndiweni and Siya Ngcamu).
  • A session involving legal argument in favour of and against the use of Formality in Disciplinary Processes, featuring Dion Masher (Head of Employment Department at ENSAfrica), Ludwig Frahm-Arp (Partner: Fasken) and Kathleen Holmes (Director: SolomonHolmes Attorneys).
  • A Panel of Experts addressing critical issues facing employers today, featuring Nadeem Mahomed (Director: Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr), Melanie Hart (Director: Beech Veltman Inc), Yvonne Mkefa (Director: Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr), Sbu Dube (Partner: Bowmans) and Venolan Naidoo (Partner: Fasken).
