Draft Code on Violence and Harassment in the Workplace

The Department of Employment and Labour has published a draft code on violence and harassment in the workplace. The code, known as the Draft Code of Good Practice on the Prevention and Elimination of Violence and Harassment in the world of Work, is open for public comment for a period of 60 days, ending on 19 October 2020.

The draft code deals with issues such as bullying, intimidation, online violence, victimisation and sexual harassment. It applies to all persons to whom the Employment Equity Act applies.

It is aimed at providing a framework and clarity on the impelentation of the Employment Equity Act, and it provides guidelines on the prevention and elimination of all forms of violence and harassment in the world of work.
