The Department of Employment and Labour has published the draft Employment Equity Act sectoral targets for consultation purposes. This follows the recent suite of amendments to the Employment Equity Act which provides for sector-specific affirmative action targets aimed at enhancing efforts towards transformation.

It should be noted that the draft targets are subject to change, as they were published as a starting point for engagement with stakeholders. They were also published prior to the enactment of the amendments to the Employment Equity Act, and will need to be consulted on extensively, in compliance with the requirements in the statute, following the enactment thereof.
